How Dr. Sarah Shines!
Dr. Sarah was born in Austin, Texas and after a short time in South Austin, moved to Round Rock where she attended Chisholm Trail Middle School and then Round Rock High School where she ran track, cross country and was a cheerleader.
Dr. Sarah obtained her bachelors in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University in College Station and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Texas A&M College of Dentistry, formerly known as Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas.
Following dental school, she completed her formal residency training in pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital Wisconsin, one of the best pediatric programs in the nation! She misses the gorgeous summers running and biking along Lake Michigan!
Milwaukee will always hold a special place in her heart, as Dr. Sarah met her husband Joe there on St.Patrick’s Day!
Dr. Sarah Severson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is very proud of her abilities to perform traditional, preventative and restorative dentistry to treat any child's dental needs. Dr. Sarah provides comprehensive dental care to children both in-office and hospital settings.
Dr. Sarah has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education coursework in airway-focused pediatric dentistry with a goal of growing and developing the craniofacial complex early in childhood, starting in infancy. She is a laser frenectomy provider, performing laser frenectomies on infants struggling with nursing and lactation to toddlers and children with issues with feeding, speaking and even sleeping.
While Dr. Sarah loves traditional restorative dentistry, her professional passion is assessing and treating the WHOLE child. In addition to treating their dental restorative needs, Dr. Sarah wants to improve her patients' overall health and quality of life.
Dr. Sarah also performs functional frenuloplasties and is a strong advocate of orofacial myofunctional therapy. She is a proponent of collaborating care to achieve most optimal outcomes for her patients and families. Her other area of interest includes early craniofacial development via early orthodontic intervention and expansion.
Dr. Sarah loves children and animals – especially her two dogs, Luna and Millie.
Dr. Sarah has been a member of the philanthropic group, Junior League of Austin, since 2018.
When she is not working, Dr. Sarah loves traveling, spending time outdoors in Austin, or running on trails with her husband and their dogs. She also considers herself a foodie and always loves to meet new people and experience new things in life!
